ヨーロピアンにとってのシュノーケリングの聖地
　 クアラルンプールから１時間ほど国内線のフライトで東海岸北部の都市,コタバルに行きます。空港からグラブを手配して港まで約１時間。そこで往復のフェリーのチケットを購入します。河口にある専用の波止場から続々とボートが出航して行きます。 ペルヘンティアンは大小2つの島からなり、島でもっとも栄えている小さいほうの島（Pulau Perhentian Kecil）のロングビーチまではスピードボートにて40分ほどでつきます。点在するいくつかのリゾートのビーチにはそれぞれぞれの波止場があり、ボートはそこを順番に回ります。ロングビーチの波止場からホテルやダイビングサービスに行く道は砂浜しかないので荷物は有代にて荷台のついたトラクターで運んでもらいます。帰りも直接声をかければ時間通りにホテルに迎えに来てくれます。

現在、大小二つの島には30軒以上のダイビングサービスがあります。透明度は季節によりますが10～20ｍくらいで、水温は常時２７～３０度と高めです。 シュノーケリングの聖地といわれるにふさわしい遠浅の海がそこかしこにあります。近くの島々　Pulau Lang TengahやPulau Redangまで行くボートトリップを手配するの店が多数あります。

ダイパーはヨーロピアンがほとんどですが最近はマレーシアのローカルダイバーが増えています。日本人をはじめとするアジア人はほとんど見かけません。

2026年現在 日本からクアラルンプールへの往復のフライトは、マレーシア航空でも１５万円とコロナ前に比べてかなり高額になっています。 ただしマレーシア航空の国内線はどこに行くにも１万円前後と比較的行きやすくなっています。

 

A Snorkeling Mecca for Europeans
Take a domestic flight from Kuala Lumpur—about an hour—to the northeastern city of Kota Bharu. From there, arrange a Grab ride to the port, which takes about an hour. 　　　　

　Travelers　purchase round-trip ferry tickets. Boats depart one after another from a dedicated pier located at the river mouth. The Perhentian Islands consist of two islands, one large and one small. It takes about 40 minutes by speedboat to reach Long Beach on the smaller island (Pulau Perhentian Kecil), which is the most developed of the two. The beaches of the several resorts scattered across the islands each have their own piers, and the boats make their rounds to each one in turn. Since the only path from the Long Beach pier to the hotels and diving centers is a sandy beach, you’ll need to pay to have your luggage transported by a tractor with a trailer. On the way back, simply let them know, and they’ll pick you up at your hotel on time.

Currently, there are more than 30 diving services on the two islands. As befits a place known as a snorkeling mecca, there are shallow waters everywhere, and many shops arrange boat trips to nearby islands such as Pulau Lang Tengah and Pulau Redang.

Most divers are European, but recently the number of local Malaysian divers has been increasing. There are almost no Asians, including Japanese.
